To offer you a quick service, we have listed frequently asked questions below. If yous question could not be answered, please contact us: info@birthdate.com
What do I do with the BIRTHDAT.ZIP file?
BIRTHDAT.ZIP is a packed archive. If you are not familiar with ZIP-archive files you might want to obtain a software package to handle these files or use a different method for getting the software. If you decide using the ZIP file http://www.winzip.com might be a place to start getting the software to unzip (for PC users). On a Macintosh computer the newer versions of StuffIt should be able to handle ZIP files. For PC users there is a self extracting archive available. You can run this on your PC and it will extract itself to several files including the software and the holiday files.

On my PalmPilot the event list works just fine, but no datebook entries are created. Why?
Birthdate doesn't automatically create datebook entries. You'll want to use the menu / notify all option to add all datebook entries in one run or use the "notify" button in the Birthdate details screen. To get to the Birthdate details screen just tap on an entry in the event list.
To be uptodate on your datebook entries its necessary to use the notify all function some 1-2 times per year.

How do I use the holiday files?
This is described in the manual in the section "national holidays".

Is Birthdate for the PalmPilot compatible with the Macintosh?
There is no problem using Birthdate for the Palm Pilot on a Macintosh computer since there is no desktop component for Birthdate. All relevant data is collected from the addressbook. Birthdate therefore only runs on your PalmPilot. All you need is the BIRTHDAT.PRC file and install it using hotsync.

Is Birthdate for the PalmPilot compatible to the Palm OS 1.0 devices
Yes, Birthdate works with Pilot 1000 and Pilot 5000 devices. I'd recommend a device with 512 KByte Memory though, since Birthdate takes some 30-40 K of memory alone.

I lost my registration key - what should I do know?
Fahl Software keeps a customer database with all the registration keys and e-mail addresse. Just send us an e-mail that you need to get your registration key again. All we need is some hint to find you in the customer database, e.g. your name, Pilot username, e-mail address, the order date or whatever you think is helpful here.

When checking the "calc age" option in the notify details dialog I don't see any calculated ages
This has lead to confusion for some users. Since version 0.9d the calculated age is always shown in the Birthdate View (details-of-a-record view). The calc&show age option only decides whether the calendar entries show the calculated age or not. After you did a notify switch to the datebook to look for an entry created by Birthdate for Pilot. E.g. when you used "notify" on the entry of Sandra Warner, born on May 3rd, 1972 then you'll see an entry in your datebook on May 3rd, 1997. If you checked "calc&show age" there will be a "[25]" at the end of the description of that calendar entry like: "* Warner, Sandra 5/3/1972 [25]".

Why aren't repeating events supported by Birthdate for the PalmPilot?
1.) This feature would be incompatible with the calculate age option
2.) Due to the way repeating events are implemented in the PalmPilot Datebook application it would be hard to "cleanup" repeating events that have been modified by users. Since "cleanup" is an important feature of Birthdate the repeating events weren't implemented.

Is birthdate ready for the yeat 2000?
Yes, ist is! The only thing you have to notice is that you have to typ in the date with four numbers!
